“Parte del paisaje” is the LP debut by Sentinela del Norte, Diego Vergara’s new rap project, an artist with a long career in the Santiago underground scene: as a member of the indie rap legendary group Colectivo Etéreo and as an Electronic Music DJ and producer under the alias of Tonossepia.

Refreshing the attitude we did not see since the already classic "Ijniiaaa", Sentinela del Norte appeals to a vision of things that Colectivo Etéreo fans will quickly recognize, thereby “Parte del Paisaje” is configured as a sort of unannounced sequel of that memorable debut album, only the ornament and form have evolved, showing unique maturity and complexity in lyrical terms.

Entering into a reality rarely described in rap, Vergara highlights topics of adult life or a youth that refuses to die, splashing it with nostalgia and irony and hiding tons of pop culture among its folds. It is a restless and demanding rap, but fun and hilarious; rap that does not forget to pack sounds and texts into song format, revealing a result of years of musical and literary exploration.

The beats, entirely on behalf of Vergara, focus on sampling as an expressive mode, rescuing the straight forward ethics of the (indie) boom bap on tracks such as "Mr. Darcy se somete al test de Turing" (Mr. Darcy takes the Turing Test) or "Una Serie de Viñetas” (A series of Vignettes), but expanding towards unusual places like the existentialist house rap "Vales Junaeb", or the post-trap deconstruction "Dame un Mi " (Give me a Mi).

Old acquaintances of chilean indie rap collaborate; Dadalú and Menda (Colectivo Etereo) put social networks in trouble in "La Vida de los Otros” (The Life of the Others), Gen gives away his always accurate bars in "Profundo en la ciudad” (Deep in the city) and Djs Dementira and Vaskular contribute to expand the sound texture of the tracks, all under the thorough work of recording and mixing of Juan Faúndez.

“Part of the Landscape” is presented as a critical, raw and naked vision of the supposed adulthood and the failure of modernity as a life project, proposing a reflection aimed at both adult and young audience, for those who feel comfortable with the aesthetics of Colectivo Etéreo or newcomers looking for unique artifacts in the music world today.
