Complementing the last year’s release of Motivado‘s third EP, Discos Pegaos presents “Profiterol Remixes” EP, with versions signed by eminent producers of the iberoamerican scene.
Not much has been lavished of Motivado’s tracks in the hands of others (a couple of remixes here and beyond), so it is very interesting to see now how these take new directions, to finally reaching almost opposite places. Heading the list is the always prolific and tasteful producer Dany F(Colombia – Cómeme), than focuses his remix on extracting the most latin vibe from the moody energy of “Profiterol”. On the other hand, Disko Selectors, DJs and shakers of the city of Valladolid, Spain, opt to strengthen the club dynamics of “Profiterol”, by letting the track ready for an epic and grandiose dancefloor.
Totally unexpected and surprising is the approach that national producer Valesuchi (if you haven’t reviewed Golosynth by Discos Pegaos, now is the time) shows in her remix for “Universo”. By using a handful of samples and the extracting of the synthetic nature of the original track, the remix turns in some kind of space odyssey, that works like some sci-fi dystopia. But Valesuchi’s approach seems to be quite contrary to the nostalgic “folktronic” mantra of Barrio Lindo; the argentinean producer that, since the release of his LP for the excellent label Project Mooncircle, has become one of the revelations of the southamerican electronica. He takes this time the track “Histeria”, and convert it on an idyllic piece that set their mood on the gorgeous sounds of some intriguing jungle fantasy.
