Diego Vergara a.k.a. Tonossepia, already had given us signals of its prolixity and his brilliant way of chaining samples and rhythms. Tonossepia's "Nostalgia de un dancin" is at this point one of those little classics emanating from the bold and colorful Discos Pegaos discography; a track that pretend to be some kind of introducing to someone who really did not need major introductions. Producer, DJ, musician and MC, Diego Vergara has been present on multiple ways within the independent chilean scene for about fifteen years, either as a soloist with works for labels like Modismo and Pueblo Nuevo, as well as being part of numerous formations and projects such as the incendiary hip hop indie combo Colectivo Etéreo.
On all these efforts, he always showed his own particular view, with the refusal to conventions, and with his attachment to deep roots in the history of music and its heroes. "Amor Disco", their first EP for Discos Pegaos, is a confirmation of all the above. Twenty minutes in which Tonossepia brings to the table, three bright approaches to what has been the extensive legacy of house music in the course of modern electronic music; either deepening their disco house grandiosity ("Amor Disco"), building bridges with the New York garage sound ("Amalar el Noema"), or flirting with the club thoroughness of late Four Tet ("Gramsci pintaba ..."). In all those expressions, Tonossepia signs some robust and fabulously infectious pieces, which become the highlights of a producer who doesn't disappoint, and who as well is trying to develope a language that deserves to be above any modern hype.
