about

What is ours? What could be “ours” but the construction of disparate elements that structure an enviroment where we can feel we belong? Alpha Stronggah, alias under which Baltazar Solar hides, tries to answer this question on his third production for Discos Pegaos.

An example of this has been suggested on his first EP, Spiritual Stoner (2012), or in remixes and edits like the update of “Qué he sacado con quererte” by Violeta Parra, where he proves the constant re-configuration of the tradition towards the future, to show us our identity is in constant change.

In this scenario “Nuestroh” (Ours) arises. The beautiful simplicity of the title place us in a sphere of homey comfort , because it brings to paper an interesting particularity of language: the vanishing of the quiet “s” at the end of our words. Recurring phenomenon, also in the names of tracks like “Palabrah” (Words) and “Barrioh” (Hoods).

“Nuestroh” is resistence and rebelliousness, that assumes as latin from written to sound. The appropriation of sounds, vocals and atmospheres from here and there, via sampling, builds a resonant structure of dub and trap, resisting through the crossbreeding of local senses and ghetto slang, to bring back what’s ours.

What comes next? To accept the invitation by Alpha Stronggah to resist through the hybridation, taking what most interests us in cultural terms, and to live feeling part of this. To breath the experience of his live performances where we can feel in our bodies the past, look through the prism of present and find there our future.
